In Loving Memory : Leffel Kirkman

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing our beloved friend, Leffel Kirkman.

Leffel served on the Dartmouth Youth Soccer Board of Directors for over 20 years in various capacities as well as several years on the Southcoast Soccer League Board. Leffel was most known for his impeccable groundskeeping and mentoring of the younger generation of referees.

It wasn’t enough for Leffel to care for our DYSA Complex by tending to the grass and the upkeep of the fields, Leffel took pride in his responsibilities and cared for the grounds of our organization as if they were his own. Perhaps more importantly was how he gave his heart and soul to the organization through his years of coaching and cheering from the sidelines, all while building lifelong friendships through a mutual love of soccer.

Leffel cared about the experience that each player had during their time at DYSA and it showed with the time he dedicated to make it memorable for them. When he wasn’t busy at work on a DYSA project, he could be found at every fundraising function (with a special love for the Annual Soccer Ball), driving around the fields in the golfcart chatting with players and parents, photobombing team pictures, sneaking hot dogs from the concession stand or placing his famous “little red flags” on the fields that he didn’t want anyone practicing on.

When Leffel retired and moved to the sunny state of Florida, he often returned home to support his Dartmouth teams when they qualified for the State Championships and beamed with pride each time a team advanced.

It’s without a doubt that Dartmouth Soccer, players and families held a special place in Leffel’s heart as he will always hold a place in the hearts of each of us.

1:30 – 1:30PM – Boys & Girls Grades 2 & 3

2:45 – 2:45PM – Boys & Girls Grades 8 & 9-10

Tryouts will be held at Bishop Stang High School Stadium (500 Slocum Rd. Dartmouth, MA).

Attendance at 1 Session is REQUIRED ; 2 Sessions is recommended.

Boys & Girls Grades 11-PG will hold tryouts at a later date to allow for full attendance of all players within the age range.

Dartmouth Youth Soccer Annual General Meeting

Dartmouth Youth Soccer Association will be holding its annual general meeting on Thursday, October 19, at 7 p.m. at the DYSA Field House located on 580 Russells Mills Road, Dartmouth MA for the purpose of conducting annual business including election of officers.

All association members are welcome.

Spearheading Vipers FC is current Club Leadership, Peter Pacheco & Brendan Pacheco .

Peter Pacheco continues as the Executive Director of the club, overseeing all Organizational and Management aspects in collaboration with Brendan. Brendan Pacheco returns for his second Year, serving as the Director of Coaching, tasked with the continued progression of all Player & Coach Development initiatives, and all technical aspects surrounding the club.

Vipers FC will welcome 4 new staff members this year, with the introduction of Josep Pitarch, Jonas Cervera, Carlos Ferrando and Gustavo Rodriguez .

Josep brings excellent pedigree and background to our Club and will be tasked with continued the development the next generation of Vipers FC players. Spending 3 season at Franklin Pierce (NCAA Division II) as a player from 2019 - 2021, Josep transitioned into a coaching position at FPU during the 2022 Season, where he claimed the NCAA Division II National Championship. With the National Championship in hand, Josep made the transition to Bryant University in January where he serves as a top assistant coach, proving to be an excellent recruiter and having a detailed eye for the game. Originally from Spain, Josep had an impressive career, serving as a Club Captain for CD Castellon's Academy, whose Senior Team is currently in the Spanish 3rd Division.

Jonas arrives at Vipers FC having finishing his playing career at Franklin Pierce University (NCAA Division II), where last season he claimed the Division II National Championship while serving as a Team Captain. Jonas is originally from Spain as well and served as an Assistant Coach for the well regarded Levante UD Academy. Since finishing his playing career, Jonas has transitioned into coaching full time, and currently serves as an Assistant Coach at Bryant University (NCAA Division I), where he and I work very closely together. Jonas is a consummate professional, has a tireless worth ethic, and exudes the passion and energy we need to help mold our young footballers.

Carlos' playing career is littered with accolades. Playing at Bryant University, Carlos arrives to Bryant having spent the last 3 years at Franklin Pierce University. A defender by trade, Carlos has a historic 2021 Season, where he captured NCAA Division II Scholar Athlete of the Year, All-American status, and 2021 NE-10 Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year. An example of academic and athletic excellence on and off the field, Carlos has the making of an ultimate competitor and future coach, as he has begun his coaching career in his home country prior to arriving in the US. Growing up in Spain, Carlos played and captained the infamous Levante UD Academy.

Gustavo Rodriguez makes his way to Vipers FC via Bryant University, where he will play at the NCAA Division I University. Prior to arriving at Bryant, Gustavo played 2 seasons at the University of New Hampshire (NCAA Division I) and one season at Franklin Pierce University (NCAA Division II). Originally from Mexico, Gustavo grew up playing for the infamous Pumas Academy, where he was the youngest player to ever make a debut in the Liga MX, Mexico's 1st Division Professional League. Gustavo is a lethal attacking player who brings flair and killer instant to the Final Third and has experience playing as a Midfielder and Defender. His playing high level playing experiences will serve as a valuable resource to our players.

The Club has also announced the addition to our Goalkeeper Department, with Dave Walsh being introduced as the Club's Goalkeeper Coach. Dave has served on numerous College Program staffs including Franklin Pierce University and Dean College, and currently serves as the Director of Quality Control of Bryant University's Men's Soccer Program. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in the position and will be a valuable asset to the development of our goalkeepers moving forward !

The standard of excellence, tenacity to excel and valuable individual experiences as Players and Coaches coupled with the high character traits all these coaches possess, will be invaluable to all those who have the opportunity to work with them " Said Brendan Pacheco.

With all of our staff working alongside Peter and myself, we know that the growth of our club is only starting !
